## Flights from the UK to Casablanca

Direct flights run from London to Casablanca; other UK airports connect directly to Moroccan cities or with one stop.

Mohammed V International Airport serves Casablanca, home of the Hassan II Mosque, and connects on to Rabat, Fes, Marrakech and Tangier.

## Flying into Mohammed V International (CMN)

Casablanca's main airport is Mohammed V International, near Nouaceur, around 30 km south of the city centre. It is Morocco's busiest airport and the home base of Royal Air Maroc, so it is also the main connecting point for domestic flights to cities such as Oujda, Agadir and Laayoune. Morocco has several other international airports, including Marrakech (RAK), Rabat (RBA), Tangier (TNG) and Fes (FEZ), and if your family is in the north or around Fes, flying directly there can save a long road journey.

## Which UK airports work best

Royal Air Maroc has long flown between London and Casablanca, and flights are usually from Heathrow. Schedules change; we check for your dates. Direct flights take around 3 to 3.5 hours. From Manchester, Birmingham or Scotland, the usual approach is either a connection via London or a one-stop routing through a European hub, or a direct low-cost flight to another Moroccan city such as Marrakech followed by the train.

## When UK travellers fly to Casablanca

Britain's Moroccan community, especially in west London and around Ladbroke Grove and North Kensington, travels most in summer, at Eid and during the Christmas and Easter school holidays. Many families spend the summer on the coast and visit relatives inland. Spring and autumn are pleasant for sightseeing, and Casablanca's Atlantic climate stays milder than Marrakech in July and August.

## Getting from the airport to the city

- **Train:** the Al Bidaoui commuter train runs from a station below the terminal to Casa Voyageurs and Casa Port in around 35 to 45 minutes. Casa Voyageurs is also where you connect to the high-speed Al Boraq to Rabat and Tangier.
- **Taxi:** grand taxis wait outside arrivals. Agree the fare before you set off, or ask us about a pre-booked transfer.

## Local practical tips

- Morocco usually runs one hour ahead of GMT but switches back to GMT during Ramadan, so check your flight and prayer times carefully if you travel that month.
- Leave time to visit the Hassan II Mosque on the seafront. It is one of the few mosques in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors on guided tours, so it is a good choice if you are travelling with friends of other faiths.

Royal Air Maroc and other carriers also connect Casablanca with Jeddah, so some travellers visit family and then continue to Umrah. Ask us about combining the two, or see our [Umrah Plus](https://umrahgateway.co.uk/umrah-plus/) ideas and our [flights to Jeddah](https://umrahgateway.co.uk/flights-to-jeddah/).
