Umrah Visa from the UK: Requirements and How to Apply

Quick answer: British citizens can perform Umrah on the Saudi tourist eVisa, applied for online, or on an Umrah visa arranged by a travel company as part of a package. You need a passport valid for at least 6 months, a passport photo and travel details. When you book an Umrah package with us, we apply for the visa for you.

Which visa can I use for Umrah?

• Tourist eVisa: British citizens can apply online on the Saudi eVisa portal. It allows Umrah outside the Hajj period.
• Umrah visa through a travel company: arranged with your flights, hotels and transport as one package.
• Other nationalities living in the UK: many UK residents with a valid UK visa or residence permit can also apply for an eVisa. Eligibility depends on your nationality, so check before booking.

Visas for Umrah are normally paused for a few weeks around Hajj, so plan your dates outside that period.

Documents you need

• Passport valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry, with blank pages.
• A recent passport-style photo with a white background.
• Return flight and hotel details (included in your package).
• UK visa or residence permit, if you are not a British citizen.

Health requirements

Saudi Arabia sets vaccination rules for pilgrims, such as the meningitis ACWY vaccine, and these can change from season to season. Do women need a mahram?

Under current Saudi rules, adult women can perform Umrah without a mahram. Rules can change, so we confirm the latest position when you book. Many women choose to travel with family or in one of our groups.

What is the Nusuk app?

Nusuk is the official Saudi app for pilgrims. You use it to book a permit for the Rawdah in Masjid an-Nabawi and to see your Umrah details. Download it before you travel and register with your passport details.

How long does the visa take?

eVisas are often issued within a few days, but leave at least two to three weeks before travel, and longer in busy periods such as Ramadan. Book your Umrah package early and we will handle the visa application for you.
